SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS - COVID-19 (CORONAVIRUS) PICK-UP AND DROP-OFFS
Following information from the Department of Health, schools have been advised to manage student drop-offs and pick-ups at the gate and to restrict access for parents to the school grounds. In response to this recommendation, the College has made the following changes to gate access and supervision arrangements for Primary students (please be mindful of social distancing requirements during drop-offs and pick-ups):
⭐️⭐️At the beginning of the day – DROP-OFF⭐️⭐️
🥭🥭Mango Block gate Kindy and Pre-Primary: All Kindy and Pre-Primary (non-bus) students will be required to use this gate to enter the College grounds. Parents/carers will be required to leave their children with an Education Assistant who will be on hand to receive the students and escort them to their class at 7.45am.
🌳🌳Main Coolibah Drive Gate Year 1 – Year 6: Students from Years 1-6 can use this gate to access the College grounds. Year 1 and Year 2 students will be supervised at the gate and escorted to class where required at 7.45am. PLEASE NOTE: Gates will be unmanned and LOCKED until 7.45am and locked again at 8.00am. Students arriving after 8.00am will need to go via the Admin gate on Mangaloo Street.
🍐🍐Main Gate on Mangaloo Street Year 1 – Year 6 and Bus Travellers: All bus travellers and students from Year 1-6 can use this gate to access the College grounds. Staff will be on hand to escort young students to class where required.
⭐️⭐️At the end of the day – PICK-UP⭐️⭐️
🥭🥭Mango Block gate Kindy and Pre Primary: All Kindy and Pre-Primary (non-bus) students will be escorted to this gate and handed over to parents/carers as they arrive at the gate (parents/carers are asked to maintain social distancing from each other while waiting for their children).
🌳🌳Main Coolibah Drive Gate Year 1 – Year 6: Students from Years 1-6 can use this gate to leave the College at the end of the day. Year 1 and Year 2 students will be supervised by class staff until parents/carers arrive for pick up (parents/carers are asked to maintain social distancing from each other while waiting for their children).
🍐🍐Main Gate on Mangaloo Street Year 1 – Year 6 and Bus Travellers: All bus travellers and students from Year 1-6 can use this gate to leave the College at the end of the day. ECE bus travellers will be escorted to the gate and supervised until they are ready to board the bus (as is the usual process). Year 1 and Year 2 students will be supervised at the gate until parents arrive.
❌Parents are encouraged to avoid picking up students from the Mangaloo Street gate due to bus congestion.❌
Car Parks and Delivery Areas
The car park known as 'Mango Block' off Coolibah Drive (the block between the school and TAFE) is available for parking. Please follow the signage, arrows and ground markings - giving way to buses and people at all times. Angle parking is available and you MUST walk your child/children to class from the parking area. Parents are to enter and depart the Mango Block from the new gate (leaving the school buses to enter/depart from the original gate). Please drive safely.
Parents/Caregivers are NOT to use the staff car park (off Mangaloo Street) for the purpose of dropping-off or collecting children. Please use the car bays on Mangaloo Street or Coollibah Drive. Council Rangers regularly patrol the area and issue infringement notices. Under no circumstances are parents/caregivers to park or stop in the entrance to car-parks or obstruct footpaths!
Parents/caregivers are asked to restrict their speed in the vicinity of the school to the 40Km/h limit and to refrain from parking on our neighbours’ verges and street lawns.
Senior School students who are licensed to drive are able to park their vehicle at the rear of the senior school block. Once parked, the vehicle is to remain parked until the end of the school day or until such time that the student is leaving the school site for the day. Under no circumstance are students permitted to transport another student in their vehicle during school hours. The school reserves the right to terminate consent for a student to bring a vehicle onto school property.
Confidence and Independence
It is desirable for children (Year 3 to Year 6) to walk to their classroom unaided and to prepare for their day’s work. This develops confidence and allows children to display initiative. Likewise, at the end of the day, encourage your child to become self reliant and responsible for their own bag and belongings.
