Follow the Dream (FTD)

Follow the Dream (FTD)

The Follow the Dream Program focuses on high achieving Indigenous students from years seven to twelve. These students are identified as having the skills necessary to obtain their Western Australian Certificate of Education and enter university or go on to a traineeship or apprenticeship.

The program is funded by the Western Australian Department of Education in partnership with the Graham Polly Farmer Foundation.

Benefits of the program include:

  • A place to go after school, complete homework, study and get help.
  • Small group and one to one tutoring.
  • Mentoring and support including help with issues between the school, parents and teachers.
  • In class support/ tutoring.
  • Opportunities to attend camps run by universities.
  • Leadership and careers camps.
  • Reward activities.
  • The opportunity to develop friendships with students with similar interests.
  • Exposure to career opportunities e.g. engineering, law, scientist, hair dressing etc.

If students are Indigenous, hardworking and want to get the best out of their high school education they need to complete an application form and hand it in to the coordinator. A panel will review each application and select students based on school reports, teacher comments and place availability.

To be considered for the program students MUST:

  • Have an attendance of at least 80%.
  • Be well-behaved in class.
  • Attend the Enrichment Centre at least twice a week after school for tutoring, help with homework and mentoring
